What’s Your MOD?
I was told about MOD Pizza by my dear friend, Alejandro from Boy Eats Orlando, you can check out his blog BoyEatsOrlando and be sure to follow him on Instagram @boyeatsorlando.
MOD Pizza, is a franchise, my opinions are reflected of the location at 11549 Regency Village in a shopping center behind the Vineland Premium Outlets (we all know these as the Disney outlets) in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
Operating from 11 AM – 10 PM, Sunday through Saturday, it’s the delicious new kid in town.
A cute pizza place that reminds me of 1950’s industrial with its clean, sharp steel backdrops popping with random colors throughout, the artwork could be considered retro-modern…I may have just made up that term, but it’s a good one, so you’re welcome.
When you first walk in, you’re welcomed by a big “Hello” from the team behind the counter. A bit Moe’s-esque, but friendly none the less. The menu to your right takes up a good portion of the wall and lists all of the different options you can do.
MOD Pizza offers an array of pizza (obviously) starting at just $5.97 for a mini 6” pie or an 11” pie at $7.97. Not a bad deal at all, considering they offer over 30 toppings. You have the option of Building Your Own or choose one of their very own creations.
Make sure to throw in a side of Garlic Butter or Cinnamon Dipping Strips for just $2.97 or try a pizza salad!
MOD Pizza is what I like to refer to as a team assembly line pizza station, think Subway, Blaze, or QDOBA. A trend catching on like wildfire.
Once you’re ready to order, step up to the counter. The team is ready to make your pizza with a smile and lively conversation, and even a few cheesy jokes - I love cheesy jokes - which is always a good thing. The worst encounters are the ones where they act like robots, just focusing on making your pizza and shoving you down the line.
Let’s start with your Crust, 6 or 11 inch – offering a Gluten Free option.
Next up, Sauces, SIX to be exact ranging from your basic red sauce, pesto, to even a Garlic Rub. I was tempted to try this one out, but I decided to save that one for next time and went with the traditional Red Sauce.
My favorite part will forever and always be, the CHEESE (Extra Mozzarella, please)! With 7 to choose from (major nail-biting moment here), including a Dairy-Free cheese for anyone who may not have as much of a good time as I do when shoving it in your face!
Now, onto those Toppings we spoke about earlier.
As I mentioned they have over 30 consisting of 9 Meats, 27 Veggies & Extras, and 8 Finishing Touches.
Your Finishing Touch is a choice of drizzle you can add for extra flavor…even though in my opinion, you don’t really need it as the flavor alone is AH-MAZING.
Once you have created your pizza to your heart’s desire, they whisk it away and throw it in their wood fire oven. I love the openness of the kitchen area, you can see everything and watch your pizza back and get all golden brown…from a safe distance of course.
Head over to pay, grab your beverage - they offer Coca-Cola products (YES!), Beer & Wine, and their own made in-house flavored Teas, and Lemonades - We tried the Lemonade, I definitely recommend.
Also, be sure to grab a sticker, decorate and add it to their “Love” wall.
Now, For the Moment of Truth. The big reveal, the main attraction! The PIZZA!
MOD Pizza, as simple as it sounds, is delicious.
The sauce was perfectly portioned and seasoned just right. Not too sweet like some sauces can get, not overly salty. The cheese is higher grade, just look at that string! Ingredients are fresh - and actually taste like it - were also proportioned just right, definitely added a nice crunch factor to the pizza itself. The crust is a little on the thinner side, which I tend to prefer, more of a topping enthusiast myself.
I definitely recommend MOD to be added to your list of places to try. So, make sure to pop in, say hello, and that you saw them on Pizza & Pigtails…also, if you visit be sure to find my sticker on the wall by the cash register!
Until next time!
I give MOD Pizza 8/8 slices!
